Carrom Play
The beauty of board games is that you can look directly down at them, see all the details, and get an idea of exactly what's going on after a few seconds like Carrom Play. If you see it for the first time without any context then it may look confusing or intimidating. However, once you start playing around with the pieces and seeing how everything works together, you'll start getting into it. You'll get sucked into the joy and competition of knocking pieces around and seeing how well you can judge angles. Power is one thing, but control is what really matters.
About Carrom Play
Certain types of games never lose enjoyment and can be fun to play no matter your age. This is one of those games that reminds you of the time you'd get together with friends to play on the ground. Carrom Play feels like a game that's much older than we realize and is similar to the standard game of marbles. There are some extra additions to make it more interesting and challenging, but the core gameplay is still there. You just need to remember how you played and then put yourself in that mindset so that you can play it once again. Take your time and have fun getting back into it.
How to Play
Carrom Play is a 2D top-down board game about knocking discs around using only the mouse. On a player's turn, they'll gain control of a large blue disc position along a horizontal bar. They can then click and hold the left mouse button on it and use the cursor to aim. Dragging back determines the power of the shot which is indicated by a pointer coming from the disc and getting longer with more power. The goal is to be the first player to knock all of their respective discs into the holes located in the four corners of the board.
All of the discs start grouped together in a circle in the middle of the board. Like with Billiards, you can hit them with the blue disc to knock them around the board. You can sink a disc into any of the slots and if you do, you can take another shot until you miss. If a player sinks the blue disc, it will count as a foul and they'll be deducted a point if they have any. For an additional mechanic, you can play with a Queen disc that will be at the center of the disc group. If a player gets a Queen in the hole, they must immediately shoot another disc into the hole or the Queen will be placed back at the center. Each disc is worth one point while the Queen is worth three.
Tips and Tricks
You need to consider angles and power very carefully with each shot. Normally, you'll want to break up groups of discs to give yourself more opportunities, but do this carefully. If you can't make your own shot, try to interfere with an opponent's shot.
