We return to the season of giving when it may not be the season but you don't need a calendar to tell you when to give or when to play Santa Games. Even though Santa Claus is such a prominent figure in so many pieces of media, he's not often the main character in a video game. That's changing slowly thanks to a title like this where it's up to Santa to save the day. It's almost time for Christmas and so many of the gifts have gone missing. Not to worry though since Santa is not one to leave a child disappointed and will set out to find those presents himself.
About Santa Games
Santa is a truly magical being with all sorts of abilities, but they haven't been the most consistent. However, you can give your head a rest since this game makes most of those abilities absent. Santa must rely on his own physical prowess, which differs depending on his depiction, to navigate the winter wonderland and get all those presents back. The problem is that it's not as safe as you might think with dangers and villains located all over. Santa may be magic, but he's also vulnerable to harm. You've got to keep Santa safe otherwise many will not have a very merry Christmas.
How to Play
Santa Games is a 2D platform game about Santa collecting presents to deliver by using only the keyboard.
Controls
- W/Up Arrow - Jump
- A/Left Arrow - Move Left
- D/Right Arrow - Move Right
The goal is to collect all the presents in the level and then reach the sleigh. The number of presents you need to collect is indicated at the top of the screen. This is also where the Santa letters are tracked which will let you play special levels if you collect them all. Santa can only take two hits and only has two lives. If he loses them all, he has to try the level again.
When you begin, Santa will spawn on the left side of the screen. He must make his way to the right and collect any stray gifts that he finds. He can also collect the Santa letters and diamonds to improve his score. While exploring, he'll encounter enemies like goblins that he can avoid or defeat by jumping on their heads. Hazards like spikes will be placed on different surfaces and will need to be avoided. Certain platforms like blue ones with arrows need to be controlled with Santa's position. After all the presents have been collected, the sleigh will appear somewhere in the level and Santa can leave. If he collects all the letters, he'll be taken to a special level where he can collect tons of diamonds.
Tips and Tricks
Santa is not the fastest protagonist so you can take your time while exploring the level. He can jump fairly high, but he rises and falls very quickly while also having a short length. Keep this in mind when jumping gaps and doing precise landings.
