Many things can define a hero, but they're often wielding a sword and fighting against many other guys with swords like in Hero 5: Katana Slice. This is another foray into the SUPERHOT-like dimension where all the figures have very angular polygonal forms. The big change is that instead of running naked, the fighters have learned to wear armor. Thankfully the hero of the hour has also donned himself in armor and taken up a sword, but stands alone against the armies. He must rely only on your skills and control to cut through all the waves of enemies that are trying to hunt him down for one reason or another.

About Hero 5: Katana Slice

The Hero series of games have tried different angles with every entry while still trying to keep the base elements intact. This game fits well into the series and has you returning to a melee style of combat. Because you're more at risk of getting injured, the movement has been expanded to allow you to leap and speed around. The maps are also much bigger giving you more space to explore and chances to regroup against difficult enemies. It's one of the bigger entries in the series and you may find yourself exploring more than you expected to while sword-fighting around.

How to Play

Hero 5: Katana Slice is a 3D third-person hack-and-slash game about cutting through enemies using the mouse and keyboard.

Controls

Cursor - Look
Left Mouse Button - Slash
Right Mouse Button - Aim/Dash
W/Up Arrow - Move Forward
S/Down Arrow - Move Backward
A/Left Arrow - Move Left
D/Right Arrow - Move Right
Spacebar - Jump
Shift - Sprint

The goal is to eliminate all the enemies in the level. The number of enemies will be indicated in the top left corner of the screen. The map showing where enemies are located will be in the top right corner of the screen. Your health is indicated by a heart in the lower left corner and when it empties, it's game over.

When you start a level, you'll spawn in an open area of the map. Enemies will begin running toward you from different areas. Your only defense is to move around while swinging your sword to slice them to pieces. Enemies will come in melee, giant, and ranged variants. The first two will attempt to strike you with their weapons while the last will be throwing projectiles from various vantage points. By using the map, you can track where all the enemies who won't engage you are and hunt them down.

Tips and Tricks

This may be about swordsmen and sword-fighting but the enemies don't follow the laws of nature. Slicing them may cause their limbs and heads to fly off but don't consider them defeated until they go limp. If you get surrounded, jump somewhere out of reach and out of range to take a breather.
