Centipede
Centipede
In 1981, Atari released the arcade game Centipede. It enjoyed enormous commercial success, being among the crowning jewels of the company’s output during the golden age of arcade gaming. Its popularity ensured that it stayed around for a while, and was ported to the Atari 2600, BBC Micro and Apple II, to name but a few. Fire from the bottom of the screen at a centipede at the top. Each successful shot causes a segment of the centipede to turn into a mushroom and float downward. To succeed, players must shoot accurately while avoiding the obstacles. It’s a fast-paced classic that’s still great fun today. Play centipede now on GamePix!
