Black Friday Mahjong
If you're going to play Mahjong, you'd better make sure that you have an afternoon free, but Black Friday Mahjong may throw you for a loop. For those not in the US consumer market, Black Friday is the Friday after the Christmas holidays when most if not all retailers apply massive discounts to all their products. As you can imagine, chaos ensues and it is one of the most stressful shopping periods in the world. And now it's being used as a theme a calm and slow game like Mahjong where it's normal to take a few minutes just to decide which pieces look the most appealing.
About Black Friday Mahjong
It's tricky to mix stressful and non-stressful elements into one thing, they either cancel out or are oddly mismatched. This game takes a stressful shopping time and uses Mahjong to depict it less intensely. What it does is just change what the tiles look like so you know what you're dealing with as you play. All in all, it's like a standard version of Mahjong but with the rules altered slightly and the arrangement of tiles changed to be more casual. Unlike actual Black Friday, you can take your time coming into this experience and spend a fair amount just mulling about the game.
How to Play
Black Friday Mahjong is a 2D Mahjong-based game with Black Friday themes that you play with just the mouse. To interact with the UI, just move the cursor over to it and press the Left Mouse Button. You can do the same to interact with all the tiles in the center of the screen. The goal is to clear the screen of all tiles by making matches. A timer on the right side of the screen will indicate how much time you have left. If time runs out before you clear it, then you'll need to try again.
When you start, tiles will be arranged in a random order in the center of the screen. They can be of varying sizes and depict different images but are associated with shopping and products. To make a match, you need to click on two tiles that share the same image and are not blocked to the left and/or right sides. Through this method, it's possible to match square tiles with rectangle tiles as long as they share the same image. If there are no possible moves, you'll get a free shuffle to change the tiles around. The number of tile pairs left will be shown in the top right corner of the screen. Once that reaches zero, you'll complete the level.
Tips and Tricks
Like with traditional Mahjong, this is a game of thought and patience. The timer on the right side ticks down very slowly so you'll have a lot of opportunities to examine the tiles. Always work your way down the layers so that you can reveal and free more tiles below.
