It's interesting to think about when we decided that certain puzzles could be used to effectively measure intelligence or cognitive thinking like with Color Hoop Stack. This puzzle has existed in real life for many years and there is recorded footage of it being used to test the intelligence of animals such as chimpanzees. The premise of the puzzle is easy enough: You're moving the hoops around until all the same colors are in one place. About Color Hoop Stack
The puzzle premise of moving objects around while also affecting other objects that need to be moved around has appeared in so many forms. This game is direct in that you're moving hoops until all the colors are gathered in their perspective places. Some people will try to move their pieces around randomly and can get lucky by ending up with the correct solution and it's possible to do that here. However, you're not being pushed to throw these hoops around haphazardly, you're being presented with a simple puzzle. It only becomes more complex based on the thought that you put into it.
How to Play
Color Hoop Stack is a 3D puzzle game about moving hoops around onto rings to sort by color using only the mouse. To select a stack, move the cursor over to it and click the Left Mouse Button. Do the same with the stack that you want to move the selected hoop(s) to as long as there's space. The goal of each level is to arrange the hoops so that all the same colored hoops are together in separate stacks. Once you do that, you can move on to the next level without the risk of failure to hold you back.
You can start playing from the first level after the game loads with more levels being unlocked with progress. Each level will present you with a certain number of stacks and a certain number of hoops of a certain number of colors arranged in a certain way. You can only move the hoops at the top of the stack and if there are multiple hoops of the same color touching each other in the stack, you will move all of them at once. Hoops can only be placed on stacks where there is enough space. They can be moved back and forth as much as you want until you get them sorted into their designated stacks.
Tips and Tricks
This is a puzzle game where you are free to take your time and work through it color by color. Since you're forced to start with the hoops at the top, take note of their colors when you decide to move them. Any empty stacks you have are extremely valuable, so make sure you keep them open until you decide to fill them.
